Tutorial - Using Data Layers

Hunting Grounds - at its heart - is a way to display relevant, hunting-specific data layers in a way that is useful to Australian and New Zealand hunters.

You can turn on data layers by tapping on the "Map Layers" icon on the Bottom Menu. This will display the "Map Layers" menu.

The Map Layers menu is a series of expandable sub-menus, which are organised based on region (Australian State, or Country (in the case of New Zealand)).

To expand what data layers are available for a given region click on the region name.

Tap on the Icon / Name of the layer you would like to enable. This will then bring up the layer sub-menu for the given layer.

Some layers will have multiple sub-layers that can be enabled, and some will have only one. The layer sub-menu will contain a description of the layer, and below the description, all of the sub-layers that can be enabled. To enable a particular sub-layer, tap on the slider switch to the right. Likewise, tapping it again will disable that sub-layer.

Now you've enabled the layer, it will show up on the map. The colour of the icon on the left hand side of the layer card represents the colour that the layer will appear on the map screen. In this example, you can see that the colour on the above image corresponds with the colour of the polygons representing the data layer on the below image.

Some data layers are tappable, in that when you tap on them, additional information will appear. Generally only the public land hunting area data layers will have this available, but if you're unsure, give it a tap and see what happens.

Clearing All Layers at Once

Hunting Grounds has a feature by which you can disable all active data layers in one go. To access this feature, tap on the "Map Layers" icon on the Bottom Menu, and when the "Map Layers" menu appears, tap on the "Hide Active Layers" button up the top.
